Caring Pregnancy Center

Sharon Kauth, Executive Director

History

In 1989 Judy and Toby Cotter were concerned that there was no alternative to abortion for the Estes Park area. They approached Yvonne Williams, the director of the Boulder Caring Pregnancy Center with their concern. Yvonne agreed that Estes needed an alternative, and it was there that it was proposed that Estes become a satellite office of Boulder. The Boulder CPC board approved of the new office in September 1989.

Clients were first seen at Timberline Medical Center. Timberline donated office space, and when a client would call for a test, a volunteer would meet them to do the test and be their advocate. It didn't take long for the CPC to require our own office space. A construction company donated the first actual office of the CPC. Ultrasounds were becoming a medical marvel, and both centers were offered free ultrasounds from Dr. Miles's office in Louisville, CO.

In 1995 the CPC moved into an office located in Lower Stanley Village and became independent from Boulder. Then in 2005, we moved into our current site adjoining Crossroads Ministry at 851 Dry Gulch Road. From the beginning the goal was for the community of Estes Park to establish our own center. We have grown so much from our first opening in 1989. We not only strive to meet the needs of women who find themselves in an unplanned pregnancy, but also to promote abstinence until marriage. Our local high school students have heard our message of abstinence every year since 1996 in some form. We feel blessed that God has given us the chance to make a difference in the lives of our youth, and the unwed women in our community. Hoping and praying that we may help in keeping them from finding themselves in an unplanned pregnancy or post abortive. With God for us, who can be against us?!
